jirachi is a mythical pokémon first introduced in generation III.
in universe, jirachi resides in the mountains, hibernating inside a crystalline shell and only awakening for 7 days every 1000 years. jirachi can also be awakened if sung to by a pure voice. according to its three "wish tags", when awake jirachi can grant three wishes to those who interact with it.

jirachi has a third eye called its "true eye" on its middle, which opens and absorbs energy for its hibernation correllating to the millennium comet.

jirachi's design is based off of the idea of "wishing on a star". its head and legs form a 5-pointed star shape, and its two tails look like the trails of a comet. it also has many traditional japanese elements; the wish tags reminiscent of tanzaku (短冊たんざく), papers with wishes written upon them and hung on bamboo during the japanese star festival tanabata (七夕たなばた) in the summer. jirachi's sleeve-like arms also resemble yukata which are typically worn during the festival.

i love this design and i love the connection of bill and the mysterious wish maker... i find an "evil" jirachi idea SUPER COOL, and bill is a perfect fit! jirachi's true eye as bill's, and his arms/hands being the tails- WOW! huge win for jirachi and gravity falls fans everywhere.

so i went to the pokemon centre in kyoto when i went there on the school trip and i desperately searched around for my son and i FOUND HIM. he was the first thing i bought in japan.

I love him so much. I carried him everywhere in my backpack and now he sits on my bed with everyone else. he is so soft. he is a silly billy.
